Hiking down Masada's Snake Path. 2000 years ago, after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem, this mountain fortress was the last stand of the Jewish resistance. During a long siege, the Romans moved tons of rocks and built a ramp up the mountain. They breached the wall only to find 960 men, women, and children dead; deciding death was better than capture, overnight all but two people killed each other. The square in the top right is one of many camps for the 15,000 troops of the Roman 10th Legion
